Tips for self-care

Self-care refers to any activity that people do to improve their daily functioning. The aim of such self-care is to achieve a balance between our emotional, mental and spiritual health. Self-care should be an active choice, something that is practiced every day. Here are some examples of self-care that you can try.

Set boundaries. Say no. Refuse politely. Don’t feel bad or apologize for setting and maintaining personal boundaries.

Analyze your daily diet. What do you eat? To what extent will the food or drinks you ingest nourish your body? How will the lyrics of the song you are listening to influence your thoughts and behaviors? How does the article or book you are reading make you feel?

Practice meditation and focus on the present moment. Spend quality time focused on your mind, body and spirit.

Learn to observe your emotions and control them. Work on healing your traumas and psychological blockages.

Practice positive affirmations and talking positively to yourself. Be an embodiment of greatness, not just an existence.

Work on nurturing your being. Return to old hobbies. Learn something new. Visit a new place, somewhere you have never been before. Be grateful for who you are in this moment.

Practice self-respect.

Reduce distractions when using the phone.

Treat yourself.

Put pen to paper. Write a diary. Express your emotions, thoughts and doubts. Express your gratitude by writing.

Last but not least – eat fruit and get enough sleep.
